This cutting edge curriculum will address the emerging challenges faced by advisors in implementing a holistic campus activities program with an aim of enhancing student learning in their campus environments. Some elements that will be discussed are practical applications of holistic learning environment theory, new assessment approaches and learning how to incorporate community service components into your student activities programs. The value of achieving desired student outcomes through your student activities programs will also be explored. A frank discussion of how accreditation is moving in this direction with your supervising administrator will show you the value of pursuing this curriculum. The Certified Programming Advisor Curriculum (CPAC): This is the basic certification program for advisors wishing to complete training in the fundamentals of campus programming techniques, campus activities related student theory, campus activities legal issues, recruitment, retention, simple assessment tools, motivation and limited aspects of risk management. Completion of this curriculum is necessary to advance to participation in the Certified Campus Activities Instructor Curriculum. APCA Commuter Campus Student Life Specialist Curriculum: This curriculum will address the special needs and challenges faced by commuter and community colleges. Topics will include programming techniques for a non-residential student body, assessment tools for commuter programming events, innovative ideas for keeping students involved in a commuter environment, risk management, legal issues affecting student life, student board recruitment and retention techniques and more. How to Choose Your CPAC Sessions: Our APCA Certified Programming Advisor Curriculums (CPAC) are designed to be flexible, informative and easy to customize to your particular campus situations. Candidates in all curriculums will have certain required keynotes and courses to attend, but will also have the ability to choose electives throughout the program that may be more appropriate to their individual circumstances. This flexibility in designing your own ed session paths will allow for an educational experience more fitting to your particular work environment, experience level and student population. Keynotes will be designated by the Audience indicator "All", and other sessions will have audience indicators of "CPAC" , "Commuter" or "Community Service Programming." Keynotes are required for all curriculum certifications, but CPAC candidates may choose breakout sessions with the indicators "CPAC, Community Service, Elective or Commuter" to achieve their desired learning and certification outcomes. Note: Any particular session within a curriculum may be substituted for a session in another unrelated track, but we allow no more than three total such electives unless seeking a general CPAC certification. CPAC VS Community Service/COMMUTER FLEXIBILITY Please note, CPAC candidates will have a more flexible curriculum with more session options to provide a flexible training experience to suit their particular professional development and campus environment needs. The Community Service Programming and Commuter certification tracks have a more structured framework, as they have more topic-specific material involved. Accordingly, if only one session is listed as applicable for a Commuter or Community Service curriculum candidate, then that course is required for that curriculum. Certificates of Completion, logo shirts will be awarded for all participants.
